ZeroFox Expands Executive Team with Alex Abey and Scott O’Rourke
Alex Abey, formerly of Lookout Security, will take over as VP of Business Development, while Scott O’Rourke of Trustwave joins as VP of Commercial Sales
NOV. 3, BALTIMORE MD– ZeroFox, the leader in social media security, announced today the addition of two new executives focused on leading ZeroFox through the next phase of growth. Alex Abey joins as the Vice President of Business Development, while Scott O’Rourke enters as Vice President of Commercial Sales, both bringing decades of security and sales execution expertise.
Alex Abey, who served in the same capacity at Lookout, was instrumental in growing strategic partnerships for the San Francisco-based mobile security firm. Abey’s initiatives were critical in Lookout’s $282 million in fundraising over 8 rounds from several top-tier investors, including Andreessen Horowitz, T. Rowe Price, Deutsche Telekom, Khosla Ventures and Accel. Prior to his time at Lookout, he held positions at Motorola, Good Technology Inc., Encompass and ZDNet.
“ZeroFox sits at the intersection of the best of both worlds: a high growth company in a high growth market space,” said Abey. “Social media is quickly emerging as the big question mark in every modern enterprise’s security posture, and we have the unique opportunity to plug that security gap and provide critical visibility. IT security always follows IT, and social media is now the biggest and most dynamic IT system on earth. I am thrilled to help architect a go-to-market strategy in this incredibly promising space.”
Scott O’Rourke is the former VP of Enterprise Sales at Chicago-based security firm Trustwave, which was acquired by Singtel for more than $800 million in April of 2015. As VP, Scott completed a restructuring of the go-to-market strategy for the Enterprise team. These changes resulted in a more targeted focus on the client’s needs and increased sales. Earlier in Scott’s career, he was responsible for growing sales teams at Verizon and AT&T.
“I am extremely excited for the opportunity to join ZeroFox. In the security space, you want to work in the cutting edge of technology, and that is exactly where ZeroFox finds itself,” said O’Rourke. “Company brands, identities and images exist outside traditional security infrastructure — in layer 8 or the “engagement layer” — and there has not been a focus on what that exposure means to corporate security. We have an incredible opportunity at ZeroFox to develop powerful social media security tools, providing the brand, image and identity protection that matters to the entire enterprise.”
“Alex Abey and Scott O’Rourke are industry veterans with immense sales and go-to-market business experience—in short, two excellent additions to our team,” said ZeroFox CEO and Chairman, James C. Foster. “I have the utmost confidence in their ability to drive social media cyber security message and continue to accelerate the velocity of our next phase of growth. Today is another great day for the entire ZeroFox family.”
This news comes just over a month after ZeroFox announced that former CEO of Palo Alto Networks Lane Bess had been added to its list of investors and as a member of its Board of Directors.
